Letters, 1861-1864.

Originals and typewritten copies of letters from Lewis Benedict, member of several New York regiments in the Civil War, written from the front to Mrs. E.J. LeFavor of Medway, Mass. The letters concern Benedict's entrance into the army, inactivity along the Potomac River, involvement in campaigns to Yorktown, Richmond, and various points in Louisiana, positions held by him, and news of other members and activities of the army. The letters continue until his death in action in 1864.
